The building of a Romanian house starts with the fences. A big fence from cement, iron, and as high as possible. It might be a need for privacy, but it might be just fear.
Fast forward Toronto. You’ve seen pictures. You know that the houses have no fences. It still hits you right in that part of the brain where your keep your most stable values about the world. You walk the streets and the only thought on repeat is: There are no efin’ fences here!
It’s my belief that this fenceless reality influences the mind of people living in it. More openness, assumed responsibility, and a lighter burden on people’s souls.
I will go as far as to say that this is part of a Toronto in which there are no walls standing in the way of building your dreams.
